Community
The rug making industry is almost completely dependent on the local community. Dyeing, spinning, weaving and washing are all carried out by local artisans in their immediate neighborhood. A large population of our city is directly or indirectly employed by the rug industry. This has been the industry model for decades, and we don’t see it changing in the future.
Each rug is a collaborative art piece of hundreds of local artisans. We are truly grateful to be part of an industry that is so heavily reliant on a community much bigger than us.
Goodweave
We are immensely proud to be part of the goodweave network. We work tirelessly with goodweave to ensure that the rug industry is untouched by child labor and that the children of all our weavers are afforded a quality education. Goodweave conducts routine exercises with us to ensure our rugs and those of the industry in general are child labor free.

Care & Fair
We have also partnered with Care and Fair to provide education to kids across our community. C&F also works to establish medical dispensaries and hospitals. Our partnership with C&F is a based on a central idea of gradually eliminating poverty from our community. We have been involved with care and fair for decades now and we will continue to support their good work for the years to come.

Our Own Responsibility
While our partnerships with C&F and goodweave are integral, we recognise it is our personal duty to work for the community that works for us. From providing blankets in the winter months to meals for at-risk families, MYS does all it can to assist our community.
We are particularly proud of our ‘runners’ initiative. We employ inspectors who make random and surprise visits on all our contractors to ensure optimal working conditions for our weavers and ensure they strictly comply with industry norms against child labour.
